John, our Camp Manager, is the first of many smiling faces that greet you as you arrive here at Ekorian’s Mugie Camp. Born and raised in Laikipia, John has an impressive knowledge of the people, the landscape, and the history of the region. Guests always enjoy hearing his tales of life in the bush.

 

Working in both tourism and hospitality, and with a background managing both people and business, John has a wide range of experiences to draw from. As the tourism representative for Laikipia Wildlife Forum he gained a wealth of knowledge and perspective on the role that tourism plays in the greater Kenyan eco-system. 

 

John is a vital part of guests' safari experience - his open and fluid communication style and eye for detail, as well as his diligent behind-the-scenes work and organization, curate a seamless and unique adventure. John is a cohesive team leader, pro-actively managing operations to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, John looks after each guest's every need and makes their enjoyment his priority.

 

Family means everything to John; his generous and conscientious character defines not only his home life but also his professional attitude. His command of English and Swahili equips him as the perfect host - and he has a great time with guests who want to learn and practice their own Swahili!
